It's an unusual collaboration the one Marimekko started with the king of stiletto heels Manolo Blanhik...it's all focused on creativity and originality of the two brands! The result is a shoe collection that undergoes contaminations by the finnish brand, famous for its bright and colourful patterns, and by the beautiful frames of Mr Blanhik who, for the occasion, took inspiration from the Cathedral of Santa Sofia in Turkey.

When Topman (TopShop's guy division) and Fashion East  announced the new lineup for February's menswear show (just called MAN and taking place the 15th of february in London) , it suddenly became clear that menswear had taken a new direction because there are 3 really interesting young designers  in the list.

Here they are and i think you should keep an eye on them.

Hans Christian Madsen

he's Danish, 25 years old, he's inspired by the "rebel style": 1950's youth culture, the time between the end of World War II and the election of John F. Kennedy. Madsen completed his MA in Fashion Menswear at the prestigious Royal College of Art. This will be Madsen’s debut, as one of three MAN designers. Since graduating  Madsen has been working with Diesel and won the prestigious Golden Fur Pin.

Kesh

At just 20 years old, Kesh may well be achieving successes yearned for by designers twice her age, yet the attitude of this London anti-it girl remains undeniably down-to-earth. Despite the likes of Carey, Lupe Fiasco, Lily Allen, Big Daddy Kane and Mark Ronson donning her creations, Kesh believes it is ultimately the everyday people ordering her pieces online that fuels her motivation and, consequently, the success of Keshwear. Her pieces reflect a fusion of Trinidad, Caribbean and British culture; acting like a synapse between M.I.A-style fashion and 1980s Technotronic style beats. She's now based in New York and is busy working on her first show and creating a range of T-shirts for Dover Street Market.

James Long

THis 26-year-old british guy amazed Topman's panel of judges with his modern approach to battle armour. About his inspirations he says “My men are heroic and ready for action.Medieval modern soldiers.”

Long has been working on custom-made pieces for the likes of stylist Patti Wilson and is designing the goodie bag for the MAN show.

If you're into fashion, art and magazines and you love browsing the net you may have certainly read Susie Bubble's blog which is called Style Bubble.  The eclectic Susie posts photos of her outfits, always  interesting and lovely, and talks about her opinion on trends, designers, fashion shows, new brands, etc. She's been noticed by a large slice of the fashion media and reviews about her blog appeared on Teen Vogue, Glamour Italy, and many blogs on internet. Obviously it's one of my favourite blogs too, that's why i decided to interview her and ask her something about the idea behind her blog but also about her real life. Enjoy!

1-Why did you start Style Bubble? I started Style Bubble because I had been reading fashion blogs and posting on fashion forums and thought that a blog would be an easy way of documenting my thoughts, observations and own personal experiences within fashion whilst working at my full time job as a digital media planner.  I also wanted to get back to the essence of blogging which is that first and foremost, it is quite personal and that I'm not really here to be informative.

2-How do you react to the popularity your blog is gaining? You're suddenly on many magazines and everyone is talking about you; how does this make you feel?  It's a little surreal.  I don't really see the blog as something of a mainstream, widely known thing because at the end of the day, there is only so much influence a blog can have.  Of course, when people are coming up to you in Topshop and recognising you, it is a little bizarre but flattering at the same time.

3-Which shops you love in London? I love Concrete, 59 Broadwick Street, 172 Brick Lane, Dover Street Market, Hurwundeki, Band Band and numerous charity shops.

4-What kind of studies did you do? (or are you still doing?)  Alas... I'm not a student!  I've been working as a digital media planner in an agency for about 2 years now.  My job is a little boring but stimulating enough to keep me there.

5-Fave movies ever? It probably changes all the time but I love The Last Emperor, It's Some Kind of Wonderful, Clueless and Breathless.

6-What kind of music do you listen to? Quite an eclectic mix really.... at the moment, I'm listening to The Answering Machines, Beirut, Los Campesinos, Battles and the new Kitsune 5 compilation...

7-If you could work for a magazine or a particular designer, what/who would it be? I'd love to work for Lula or Jalouse or if I'm brave enough... Numero!

8-What's the best part of running a blog? And the worst?  The best part of it is just seeing the final product, published online.  The worst is probably negativity on the blog.  I would far prefer a fewer number of readers and for everyone to get along than to have annonymous cattiness going on.

I want to thank Susie for her kindness and time, she's been able to find some time to answer to my questions...i highly recommend you to visit her blog if you haven't had the chance to do it before.

Come back soon for more news and updates about the fashion world.
