Since i'm a big fan of personal style blogs fashion related ones i'd like to introduce you to Heini, she's 21 years old, lives in Helsinki but comes from the countryside and runs her own Flickr page which is already really popular among those who are fond of those blogs and profiles where owners post their looks...her nickname on Flickr is Piksi.

When and why have you decided to start your own Flickr page?

I begun posting my outfits on Flickr not until last August 2007 so this is relatively new to me. First, in the summer 2007, i started posting outfits on a Finnish style community, where people can photograph their looks and others can comment on them. However, on girl, whose style i liked very much (her nickname is irene_adler and she can be found on flickr's  "wardrobe-remix" community too), gave me a tip about flickr and this do-it-yourself outfit community and i found there so many inspirational styles that i decided to join in and start posting my looks too.

Why?

First i thought it'd be fun to take pictures just for myself of my daily outfits so that i can see how my style develops, re-use the combinations i like and maybe have some good laughs in the future.

Then i ran into this Finnish style community and thought it'd be interesting to hear other people's opinions on my outfits. Now i mainly post on Flickr because i find "wardrobe-remix" one of the greatest sources of style you can find on internet.

And besides Wardrobe-remix, do you have any favourite blog or website about style and fashion, or even magazines?

I love street style sites like Facehunter, the Sartorialist and many more. I think the best internet magazine is N.E.E.T, i really recommend to check it out!

People started to get interested in your page because you've a very personal and nice style and they love to take inspiration from your photos. Has it ever been embarassing for you to know strangers look at your pictures?

Oh i must say i'm very flattered if my outfits can be a source of inspiration for someone. I have never found it embarassing to know that strangers look at my pictures, otherwise i wouldn't post them on Flickr.I only post the outfits that i like myself and feel comfortable wearing.

What do you do in your life?

At the moment i'm studying to become a vet; i've been studying Veterinary medicine at the University of Helsinki for 3 years and i've 3 more to do. I never thought about an occupation in fashion, it's just a funny hobby for me. I live here in helsinki with my long-time boyfriend and i've a horse so riding is my main hobby besides clothing and style related things.

How would you describe the finnish style?

The majority of young people wear jeans, i guess it goes like this everywhere. Jeans, sneakers, t-shirts and hooded jackets are quite a popular combination here. I would say that in Helsinki there's more variety than in the rest of Finland because it is our biggest city and the most international one, here you don't get long stares if you wear something different and eccentric. You can check Helsinki street style by visting the website hel-looks.

Oh yeah! That's one of my favourite sites too, i love looking at those  photos. Do you have any favourite brand  apart from buying really cute stuff from thrift stores?

I love the work of many finnish young designers. One of my favourite is Samu-Jussi Koski who designs for Marimekko. If i had more money i'd buy all my clothes from finnish designers' collections.Talking about cheaper stores i like h&m, but thrift and vintage shopes are still the best and funniest to shop in!

Do you have any style advice to give to your viewers and our readers?

I'm really bad at giving any advice. All i can say is that everyone should wear those clothes they like themselves, no matter what the other people think; check out the second hand stores and flea market for individual clothing and accessories, there you can find real gems at a very low price!

What are the best pieces you found in flea markets or thrift stores?

Oh this is hard, i don't have any single favourite, i love all my finds! But now that you asked i think the yellow heels i wear in the picture below may be one of the best:

I've done some great vintage finds from Ebay too, i think these 70s boots are my favourites:

and this jumper too

It's been a pleasure to interview her and i hope you'll go straight to visit her Flickr page 'cause she really deserves attention from those who are into mixing and matching with a personal touch!

i'm back from Paris, it's been 4 amazing days....really stressful from a certain point of view, but i had so much fun as well!

The Berardi fashion show was great, you can look at the pictures here!

We took a flight from Milan on the 28th of february and arrived in Paris at about 3 p.m., went straight to the Daylight Studio where the casting of models and fittings took place....here's some pics of us having fun/working the days before the show.

this is me trying on the famous no-heel Berardi shoes while Sayaka is relaxing on the floor

This is Sayaka playing with the huge yellow fur of the fashion show.....and below you can see how it looks on the model

me and Sayaka sewing and fixing embroidery on dresses

Sophie and Sayaka playing around with the green parachute dress, which you can see here below

Me and Luca smoking a cigarette in the back balcony of the Palais de Tokyo (the location of the fashion show)

Sayaka keeping the Eiffel tower on her hand

Macarons

Well, i didn't have the time to take pictures, i just took videos and i hope i'll be able to save them on youtube and then post 'em here. I met really nice and funny people, ate delicious food, seen amazing shops and streets and saw v.i.ps like Chloe Sevigny.... i want to thank those who gave me the chance to experience this and those who were with me and also the parisian taxi drivers who drove us everywhere!

it's 8.30 in the morning here in Milan, i'm having a mug of coffe and 2 slices of pain d'epices; my stuff to fly to paris is ready in my suitcase and in an hour i've to meet up with my colleagues to go to the airport.

But i can't leave without speaking a little about the Balenciaga fall winter 2008/2009 fashionshow....can i?!

Once again Nicolas Ghesquière shows his creative genius and honors the Maison Balenciaga with a collection that takes inspiration from Cristobal Balenciaga and reinterpretes his tyle in a contemporary way.

The inspirations are the Noir movies and a futuristic atmosphere; the materials are hi-tech, deep clefts in the skirts give big sensuality to the balenciaga woman and so do the jewels chosen to enrich the outfits. It's indeed a wonderful collection!

Today i'd like to talk about a girl who sells her really cute creations on Etsy, the label is called Tabitha Emma and she's a young australian who loves creating super lovely bags that look like slices of pie, teacups, sweets, etc. They're really well made and, most important thing, hand made and you will certainly be noticed...at least for being ironic and "sweet"!

i'm back! The Milan fashion week is over and it's been great: lots of parties, amazing fashion shows, tons of photographers, fashion editors wearing uber expensive clothes and super high heels, students trying to get in, etc.

I enjoyed a lot but i had to keep working too so, when i wasn't busy drawing clothes or placing prints on patterns or going to fashion shows, i looked for inspirational looks on internet, so here's what i've found.

from the Facehunter

from the Sartorialist on style.com

from the Sartorialist on style.com

from Copenhagen street style

that's it for now.

ON thursday the 28th i'll be flying to Paris with my colleagues for the Antonio Berardi fall-winter 2008-2009 fashion show and i'll take lots of photos. Hopefully we'll have the chance to walk around the city too and go to parties so come back soon!

i paid attention to the shows of the London fashion week but i don't wanna talk about 'em 'cause lots of blogs will be filled of infos and pictures and names about it. The one show i want to talk about today is the Central Saint Martins Fall 2008 fashion show.

I didn't like all of it 'cause some of the clothes were very similar to designers' ones i've seen before in past seasons or maybe 'cause some were "too much" for me or simply because they gave me no reaction but i must say that it's really hard, as a fresh graduated student, to accept critics from strangers and to hear other people say your clothes aren't good or beautiful enough (it happened to e as well last year when i graduated). This students spent years studying, learning and sewing waiting for this show so they deserve my compliments.

It's an unusual collaboration the one Marimekko started with the king of stiletto heels Manolo Blanhik...it's all focused on creativity and originality of the two brands! The result is a shoe collection that undergoes contaminations by the finnish brand, famous for its bright and colourful patterns, and by the beautiful frames of Mr Blanhik who, for the occasion, took inspiration from the Cathedral of Santa Sofia in Turkey.

When Topman (TopShop's guy division) and Fashion East  announced the new lineup for February's menswear show (just called MAN and taking place the 15th of february in London) , it suddenly became clear that menswear had taken a new direction because there are 3 really interesting young designers  in the list.

Here they are and i think you should keep an eye on them.

Hans Christian Madsen

he's Danish, 25 years old, he's inspired by the "rebel style": 1950's youth culture, the time between the end of World War II and the election of John F. Kennedy. Madsen completed his MA in Fashion Menswear at the prestigious Royal College of Art. This will be Madsen’s debut, as one of three MAN designers. Since graduating  Madsen has been working with Diesel and won the prestigious Golden Fur Pin.

Kesh

At just 20 years old, Kesh may well be achieving successes yearned for by designers twice her age, yet the attitude of this London anti-it girl remains undeniably down-to-earth. Despite the likes of Carey, Lupe Fiasco, Lily Allen, Big Daddy Kane and Mark Ronson donning her creations, Kesh believes it is ultimately the everyday people ordering her pieces online that fuels her motivation and, consequently, the success of Keshwear. Her pieces reflect a fusion of Trinidad, Caribbean and British culture; acting like a synapse between M.I.A-style fashion and 1980s Technotronic style beats. She's now based in New York and is busy working on her first show and creating a range of T-shirts for Dover Street Market.

James Long

THis 26-year-old british guy amazed Topman's panel of judges with his modern approach to battle armour. About his inspirations he says “My men are heroic and ready for action.Medieval modern soldiers.”

Long has been working on custom-made pieces for the likes of stylist Patti Wilson and is designing the goodie bag for the MAN show.
